Behind The Scenes With…Linnéa From Renaissance Life

Love Poppy this week got the chance to chat to our much loved brand Renaissance Life. Desingner Linnéa chats to us about her love for her brand and what inspires her. Did you always want to get into design? I have always liked to design, but I didn’t know that it was going to be my profession. When I was a little girl I dreamt of acting, then I wanted to become a furniture designer, and now I love designing jewellery. The jewellery design is a combination of the two, acting and creating forms. What is your day-to-day life like in your studio? All my days are different and I do not hang out in my studio a lot. When I work I work nighttime. How do you get from the designs  to the finished product? From my mind I draw the design on…

Back In Business

ATTENTION SHOPPERS ! As you may have noticed Love Poppy has been closed for a while and to your dismay, this most probably left your purse full and your shopping basket empty. However , I’m extremely excited to announce that Love Poppy is back with a new concept. Whilst I was gone I was busy travelling the world and gathering  inspirations for my big dreams and ideas I had for Love Poppy’s new concept. I found that customers were starting to distance themselves from well known brands and had started to move towards a boutique style of clothing. So , keeping this in mind I have hand selected for you my own “Love Poppy” range of boutique style clothing as well as keeping the old concept of the website which included brands such as Wildfox & Beach Bunny etc… The…

Catching Up.

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged for which I apologise but fear not, I haven’t forgotten you! If you’re wondering what I did on my brief hiatus in between an amazing trip to New York and ringing in the New Year on a yacht in Dubai…it starts and ends with this thought; Many people say that you don’t really know who you are until you’re in your 20’s. You don’t know what you want to be, where you want to go and most importantly you don’t know what kind of person you want to be. I’ve begun to learn that this notion just simply isn’t true. I didn’t wake up the morning I turned 21 in a moment of clarity; knowing exactly what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I still don’t really know….

Life’s A Catwalk

Relaxation comes in all different forms depending on what type of person you are. Some cook, some read a book, some do exercise but considering the last attempt I made in the kitchen solicited some pretty questionable results and I’m nearly certain exercise is against my religious beliefs there is only one other option for me; shopping. Insert shallow jokes here right? In all seriousness though when things get hectic or I just need some time to myself there’s nothing more I like to do than peruse around the stores and be surrounded by beautiful things. I could spend a whole day walking around a shopping center, looking for nothing in particular sometimes not even buying anything just drifting through a sea of fabrics. For me it makes the world go quiet and it gives me time to think about…

Festival Checklist

Summer is arguably one of the best times of the year: the days are longer the nights are better and there is a certain atmosphere in the air. A feeling like we are all just waiting for something amazing to happen. Summer to me means beaches, bikinis and above all else; music. Yes, Summer is festival season. No matter where you are in the world there is a pretty good chance you will be planning a trip to a  music festival in your summer itinerary. Some people see festivals as traipsing around a field covered head to toe in mud, laying in a freezing cold tent that despite all your best efforts just doesn’t look like the picture on the box and squeezing through a minefield of strangers in an attempt to catch a glimpse of your favourite band. Well…

Style Eternal

Sometimes, amid all the parties and travelling there is nothing more I like to do than curl up with an old movie. High Society, For Me and My Gal, Casablanca I could spend an eternity trying to choose my favorite. I just love them. The minute I hear Humphrey Bogart recite “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world she walks into mine” I feel comforted, I feel home. These films are simple and romantic and are little reminders of a world we no longer inhabit. Still, being the fashion worshipper that I am there is another reason why I love these films so much; the clothes! These women are not playing around, they are classy and elegant and wouldn’t be opposed to wearing an evening gown for completing the most mundane of tasks. They…

Fashion Blunders

I moved house recently and let me tell you, I was not prepared to go through the labyrinth that is my wardrobe. You know the cartoons that were on when you were a kid, where if anyone was moving they’d use a stick with a blanket tied around it to cart their stuff to the desired destination? Well I blame this unrealistic ideal for my ill preparedness. But time was ticking so after much procrastination, I got myself together repeated ‘you can do this’ over and over again and got to work. Cut to me sitting on a gargantuan pile of clothing in despair. I had accumulated enough stuff to cloth a small country and possibly several smaller islands. As I looked around the bombsite that used to be my bedroom a pink glittery jumpsuit caught my eye. I have…

A Little Piece Of Persia

Today I had a little piece of Persia when we visited the home of a lovely Persian friend and it left me wondering about Persia, the place, the culture, the food and now having completed a little bit of investigation into it I have decided it is definitely on my list of places to visit in 2014   When you walk into an Iranian home after the customary greetings, the first thing you would be offered as soon as you sit down is a well brewed hot cup of Chai.  Chai (Tea) is the hot beverage of choice in Iran where it is served for breakfast, lunch, dinner and in between with at least one or more refills. There’s more to drinking tea than meets the eye. It’s about being together with family and friends. It was my first…
